I’m sure everyone by now has seen David Fincher’s take on The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Fincher always delivers and the film is solid. But it’s the opening title sequence that still amazes me about this film. Multimedia – visual effects powerhouse Blur Studios, lead by creative director Tim Miller produces 3D character animation and motion design through the narratives of Stieg Larsson’s novels that pushes beyond anything you’ve seen on screen.
To give you an idea of the work involved in this type of sequence – it’s like creating an entire separate film within the film. Countless hours of problem solving, storyboards, drafting, rendering, designing, illustrating, coordinating, and being able to throw away months of prep on a single idea, only to start over on a new one. Amazing work.
