“From the heights of these pyramids, forty centuries look down on us.” ~ Napoleon
The perfect day – you wake up at sunrise and spend the rest of your hours surrounded by masterpieces. Timeless, untouched, masterpieces. The Musée du Louvre, or The Louvre needs no introduction. But it does need proper blogging for all of you who either have never stepped foot out of your own city, or have never left the country – especially Americans. Housing some of the greatest collections of all time, and standing as one of the most important museums on earth, we’ve spent the day doing what we came to Paris for – rebirth.
From Francis I to Louis XIV, all the way to Napoleon, centuries of political war and blood has been spilt for these pieces of art to be shown. Pieces from Michelangelo, da Vinci, Bernini, to Caravaggio, Raphael, Géricault, Ingres and everyone in between. This museum is one of those things you have to do before you die, so to feel it’s true power you have to one day actually be here. Before we came many said it’s impossible to finish absorbing the Louvre in one day…..but ‘impossible’ is not in our dictionary. Enjoy your look into the first of three parts of the Louvre experience.
